BC Hazardous Materials Compliance
Audit Program

The British Columbia Environment Industry Association (BCEIA) would like to take this opportunity to announce the launch of the BC Hazardous Materials Audit Program (“Audit Program”) developed under a conditional grant with the BC Ministry of Environment.

The Audit Program is designed to promote proper hazardous materials management and regulatory compliance for those companies that handle, transport, manage and treat hazardous materials under the auspices of the BC Hazardous Waste Regulation (HWR).

Specifically, the Program supports a series of audits for those industry stakeholders who would like to ascertain their overall degree of compliance.  In addition, Audit Program participants will have 50% of the audit costs paid for by the BCEIA.

The Audit Program framework was developed by the BCEIA under contract and under the direction of the BCEIA Hazardous Waste Committee.

The Audit Program represents an excellent opportunity for those companies interested in rating not just their regulatory profile but also the performance rating of their daily operations.  Space is limited, however.  And although the BCEIA will endeavour to offer participation fairly, across a broad spectrum of the hazardous waste community (including non-BCEIA members) it is expected that demand will be high.

The BCEIA seeks companies that wish to participate in the audits and consulting companies that wish to apply to undertake the audits.  An eligibility list is currently being compiled.

Contact the BCEIA directly for further information.
